Thames Festival and Mandinga Arts play host to an amazing 50-metre-long Chinese dragon which will lead the Night Carnival.  Created by artists Keji Zhou and Heping Zhou, it was commissioned to appear at the Beijing Olympics earlier this summer, and was brought to the UK with support from the British Council.

The Tongliang Dragon, or ' Wriggle Dragon', has 24 sections symbolising good luck throughout the 24 cycles of a year. Twenty-five people are required to manipulate the Tongliang Dragon, which is accompanied by live traditional Chinese music as it processes along the streets.
