Sat 12 – Sun 13 September 2009
12 pm - 6.30pm

You could act out a scene from The Sarah Jane Adventures, from the makers of Doctor Who. Or be the crew or a Lab Rat in a remake of Richard Hammond's Blast Lab with a spectacular live experiment. Or star alongside a virtual Dani Harmer in a Tracy Beaker mini-drama. And if you come along and take part, there's loads of fab free giveaways too.
Places are limited so come and see us on the day to sign up! Look out for the registration desk at the event.

You don’t meet any stars, I believe. Even the Richard Hammond attraction is a bit iffy. But I think EVERYONE’S going to love the Sarah Jane bit, especially if they’re big SJA fans. When they had the same event in Manchester, kids could go into Sarah Jane’s attic and act with a real life Judoon/Slitheen! Or Blathereen, rather. They’re orange!

And…it was BRILLIANT. A big pat on the back for BBC Events, their Sarah Jane Adventures show was second only to Diversity from Britain’s Got Talent making an appearance!

CBBC is even better live than on the TV! Why can’t they do more stuff like this? (and out of London for a change perhaps??) Bit too grown up for my two youngest, but my 9 year old boy was absolutely hooked by the Richard Hammond show (we watched all three shows, interrupted only by the fact that Diversity took to the main stage!). He’s been asking me to buy him a velcro ball blower ever since ...(anyone know where i can buy one???)
Only downside really was that it wasn’t any bigger. By the time we had arrived in the afternoon, registration had all but closed! :-( The Tracey Beaker drama thing though was worth the queue and the Doctor Who aliens a particular highlight for my (slightly less grown-up) husband!! If only they’d allow big children on it too.
So well done Thames Festival, Diversity and CBBC. A great day out - especially the awesome fireworks at the end!!
