Southwark Bridge is transformed into a giant banqueting space, designed by Cathy Wren, with visitors invited to share a meal, to eat, drink, dance and make merry.

This year, the theme is sustainable fish and, in the evening, diners will be invited to the Forgotten Fish restaurant for a special meal prepared by chef Thomas Hunt, in collaboration with Taste of Freedom, using discard fish and waste vegetables. As the sun sets there will be a mass toast to the Thames and all who swim in her.

Fishy-themed activity

Fishy Tales writing workshop with poet Shazea Quraishi. Zoe Cameron and Damaris Booth make fish hats, edible hats, fishing for compliments, kipper ties. The Haircut Before the Party offer Mullet Haircuts. Decorate the 3-metre 'fish' cake with Konditor & Cook. There is face-painting with underwater scenes by Rachel Tweddell and Eva O'Brien. The One that Got Away, an interactive photobooth by artist Ania Tomaszewska-Nelson and photographer Tim Mitchell. The Mobile Toasting Trolley with Toast Madames, Lottie Davies and Zoe Bywater, invite public toasts from diners. Costume designer Jenny Hayton leads Hat Making Workshops transforming recycled hats into glorious harvest hats with a fishy theme. Sustainable Fish City and Fish Fight are on the bridge and Rococo will display chocolate-making and fish-shaped chocolates. The Miniature Museum of Thames Angling with Andrews of Arcadia. There are appearances from Plunge Boom's Vegetable Nannies. Brockwell Bake’s mobile bakery is joined by The Friends of Brixton Windmill, E5 bakehouse and artisan baker Vincent Talleu. Corn Dolly-Making Workshops with Robert Longstaff. The SOIREE will re-enact some insignificant historical food-related events. Touchwood Trees lead Pumpkin Carving Workshops. Artist Sophie Herxheimer will record and illustrate your Food Stories. Fishy Games with Okido. SEED foundation will collect food waste in Bling Wheelbarrows for anaerobic digestion. LCRN have a compost display and give away. Robert Longstaff runs workshops on How to make a Wormery. There are also Information and displays from Marine Stewardship Council, and a vertical allotment by Incredible Edible Lambeth.

Fishy Tales

Submissions of flash fiction, verse and prose poems of up to 150 words are invited for this year’s Feast on the Bridge.  The theme is Fishy Tales and submissions are welcome from writers of all ages. Selected pieces will be published on the website and displayed at Feast on the Bridge on 10^th September. Deadline for submissions: August 31^st .
