Sat 4 - Fri 10 September - work begins on the sculpture, starting with a box of bones
Sat 11 & Sun 12 September - culmination of sculpture as tiger reaches completion
Mon 13 - Sun 19 September - completed sculpture remains in situ

The public will be able to help Mark from the 6-12 September, 10am-1pm and 2-5pm

Starting with a pile of plaster tiger bones, artist Mark Coreth will create a sculpture of a life-sized tigress climbing down to her cub. In the week leading up to the Festival, Mark will assemble the bones into skeletons and then carve the bodies into shape, all with the assistance of volunteers from the public.

The work has been inspired by his encounters with endangered Indian tigers and WWF's Year of the Tiger campaign. Anyone who experiences this developing sculpture here by the Thames will be able to imagine the wildlife of other river environments, like the Ganges, where the tiger population now stands at only 500.

This exciting transformation from bones to living tigers will be completed over the festival weekend when you can come face to face with one of the world's largest predators. Bringing the Bones to Life is being sponsored by WWF, which is at the heart of the campaign to double the world's tiger population by 2022, the next Chinese Year of the Tiger.
