Archaeological Walks 2010

Sat 11 September 2010 / 12 noon and 1pm

The Globe River Steps (outside The Globe Theatre)

Come and walk on the Thames foreshore where you can find 10,000 years of multicultural history beneath your feet.

Thames archaeologist Dr Fiona Haughey, of Bankside STEWards, will be leading tours and revealing the mysteries of the river that has dominated human history within the Thames basin for millennia, including prehistoric forests, 400-year-old clay pipes, seventeenth century delftware from Southwark kilns and roof tiles from the Roman and Tudor periods.

Please wear sensible shoes and ensure that under-16s are accompanied by an adult.

This sounds fantastic and we plan to attend this event when we are visiting London from Australia in September. It should be a fascinating way for us (especially our children) to learn about London’s history. We are really looking forward to this event and the whole Festival!
