FAQs

How does the festival select the successful applicants?
The Market Team reads through all applications. Creativity, ethical sourcing and quality of display is favoured. For more information, please see the Overview page in the Traders section.

How many people attend the festival?
Over 800,000 people attended the two days of the festival in 2010.

How big is the festival site?
The site stretches from Westminster Bridge to Tower Bridge.

What are the trading times?
Trading runs from midday until 10pm on both the Saturday and Sunday.

Where are the trading areas / stalls located?
Trading areas run along the south bank riverside walkway and adjacent green spaces between the London Eye and Tower Bridge.

How many stalls will there be?
Over 400.

How much does one stall cost?
Stall prices vary across the site. This is due to the expected footfall in each zone of the festival. Trading areas are carefully programmed to offer a variety of stalls that complement each other. The Market Team will offer successful applicants a location based upon the information supplied in the application form and the festival's creative programme for each area.

Does the cost of a stall cover the whole weekend?
Yes.

Is it cheaper to pay for a double stall than a single stall?
No.

Is there a charity rate for stalls?
No.  The Thames Festival Trust is itself a registered charity and stalls income is an important source of funding for the programming of this free event.

Can I add on extra space around the stall?
You can request this on your application. Extra space is very rare and only available with the consent of the Market Team.

Will I be trading at the same stall location on both days?
Yes.

Can I have two stalls together as a double stall?
Double stalls are possible. Please request this on the application form.

Can I have two stalls in different locations?
Yes, you can request up to five separate locations. The Market Team encourage traders of the right quality to expand. As the site is so long, there is little chance of saturation.

Can I choose who I trade next to?
The Market Team encourages collective trading and will try to facilitate these requests as long as it suits the themed zones.

Where can I store my trading goods?
All goods must be taken home. Stall structures are left in place over night. Goods can be stored underneath the stall tables during the day.

Can I drive to my stall to unload?
Yes.

What happens if it rains?
The festival will continue in the event of rain, unless the weather is so severe as to make it impossible.
