• Westminster film project

As part of the Thames Festival 2008, we launched an inaugural film programme entitled Thames Lens; under this umbrella we are ran several film and education projects.

Westminster City Council kindly supported a summer programme of short film-making workshops, facilitated by the award-winning film production company Chocolate Films.

Four community groups from Westminster were invited to take part (see groups below). Each group made a short film inspired by the river Thames. The completed short films were screened at the BFI on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th September, and on the flytower of the National Theatre in the evening of Saturday 13th September.

None of the groups had any film-making experience; participants were encouraged to create every part of the film, from original idea to final edit, and at the end of the session each member of the group was given a DVD of the film to take home.
